If you have 20/20 vision, surely this year you will be able to see more clearly at 20 steps, the equivalent of what you should normally hear at twenty tones. » G.M.A Public program of video art, installation and sound art, in the Pasagüero, a special installment of the permanent research of the artist and curator Gabriel Mestre Arrioja, who through different trips, searches and exchanges, manages to interconnect an interesting selection of artists dedicated to activating life through the resources of sound, video and installation, to be presented in the context of the contemporary art week within the most emblematic Club in Mexico City.

The exhibition Earth – Body takes its title from the work that artist Ana Mendieta elaborated at the end of the 1970s during visits to Mexico. It is specifically designed for the Geological Museum of Mexico City, with the opening commencing the Mexico City Art Week 2019. The exhibition was accompanied by a program of live performances, talks and screenings, including talks by Jacek Sosnowski on necropolitics and extractivism, Karen Cordero, PhD, about notions of feminism and ecology, a talk about the trail of cinematography within the Seri territory from 19th century until today by Filmmaker Antonio Coello, Seri rapper Zara Monroy, and a talk by Tsotsil artist and scholar Margarita Martínez Pérez, PhD, from San Juan Chamula, Chiapas. Seri’s chants and dance about the creation of sky, the sea and the desert by artists Raymundo Barnett and Galia Romero Astorga from Punta Chueca, Sonora Presentation of Marja Helander’s film Eatnanvuloš Lottit – Birds in the Earth (2018) selected for the Official Short Film Section of this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Panel discussion with artists and curators, moderated by Jacek Sosnowski Opening Performance by Raymundo Barnet followed by collective and individual cleansing ceremonies with indigenous medicine. Multimedia concert with Pepe Mogt from Nortec Collective presenting his piece Quadripoint from the borderlands of Tijuana and San Diego. Program curated by: Gabriel Mestre Arrioja and Jacek Sosnowski in cooperation with Mediations Biennale. Magmatism team will activate the courtyard space with video screenings, performances presentations and sheer human engagement. It will be unique occasion to get involved with Magmatism Movement – a project that we had been developing this year that focuses on unknown and inexplicable movements of culture masses under the metaphor of the processes of magma flow in Earth crust. Magmatism is a living, moving and eruptive thing that you have yet to witness. With Pic-Nic at Pavilion 02 Magmatism wants to introduce new curatorial perspective on how art functions in current time. We strive to bring up contexts that in relation to global, white, western, heteronormative art world can be perceived borderline or completely outside. Series of talks, concerts, interventions and screenings that will be held every full moon of the year and that serve as a prelude to an anti-festival that we are fine-tuning, an event that will take place in December in Mexico City. Participatory children’s culture program, will offer a series of activities in music, animation, dance and visual arts on February 5 and 8 at the Casa del Lago «Juan José Arreola» venue, with the purpose of bringing children and young people closer to contemporary Art and the artistic legacy of Mexico within the twentieth century.
